Chicken Cilantro Wontons with Garlic Ginger Sauce is a delightful fusion dish that brings together the rich, savory flavors of seasoned chicken and the refreshing zest of cilantro, all wrapped in delicate wonton wrappers. These tender parcels are steamed or fried to perfection, offering a crispy or soft bite that complements the aromatic filling. The accompanying Garlic Ginger Sauce enhances the dish with its bold, tangy profile, featuring the warmth of garlic and the spicy kick of ginger, balanced by a touch of sweetness and acidity. This harmonious blend of textures and flavors makes it a standout appetizer or a satisfying main course for any occasion.
Serving Size: 2
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Ingredients:
1/2 cup dry jasmine rice, 1 cup water
20 chicken cilantro wontons (I buy them frozen from Costco, Trader Joes, or any grocery store's frozen aisle)
1 large head broccoli, stems cut off
1/4 cup water, for steaming broccoli
For the sauce: 1/4 cup soy sauce, 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil, 1/2 teaspoon grated/minced ginger, 2 cloves garlic (minced)
Optional topping: chopped green onions and sesame seeds
Recipe:
Cook your jasmine rice, either on the stove or in a rice maker.
Once there's 15 minutes left on your rice cooking, make your sauce and set it aside (ingredients listed above).
Heat 2 pans on medium/high heat. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil to both pans. On one pan, add in your wontons and let cook for about 5 minutes, until golden brown. Once golden, add in 1/2 of your sauce and stir around. Let cook for 2 more minutes.
On the other pan, add in your broccoli. Add in the other half of your sauce and 1/3 cup of water to steam. Let cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until steamed and tender.
On a plate or bowl, add in your rice, chicken wontons, and broccoli. Optional: top with chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Enjoy!
